zendoodle art & stuff
A video showing how to draw a relatively simple mandala suitable for both beginners and more experienced doodlers. For this one I used Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pens F and S from this set of four and an Uni Pin 0.1 pen for the finer lines.
A quick and fun small doodle that turned out quite nicely. I used a Staedtler Triplus Fineliner and for the finer lines and the dots I used a Faber-Castell pen, but any 0.1 fineliner will do just fine.
Forest house free coloring page. This started out as a random doodle that grew into a whimsical house surrounded by greenery. I colored it in with Faber-Castel Pitt Artist Brush Pens, which are great for coloring small intricate details but also get a good coverage for larger spaces. Download the free coloring page in PDF format here, print it and enjoy!
The Paisley is a great shape to tangle, especially if you can’t think of a design. When I get stuck and have a hard time coming up with ideas, I just draw a paisley shape and tangle inside it. Here is an example. For this video I used a Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen size S from this set of four. For the finer lines I used a Uni Pin fineliner 0.1
I made these as a birthday present for a friend of mine. The box is a veneer ready to paint on box that I found at a local arts and crafts store. The pendant I made from air-dry clay which is great because it doesn’t require oven baking and dries to a solid. Then I painted both the box and the the pendant with acrylic paints and used a water-based acrylic varnish as a finishing.
A small square zentangle (also called tile) that is easy and quick to do. Perfect for beginners. You can use any fineliner pen, but for this particular drawing I used a Staedtler triplus fineliner and Centropen 0.1 for the thinner lines.
My first mandala on canvas. I went for blue and pink – plus white for some highlights, of course – and I’m happy with the result. I used acrylic paints on a stretched canvas (square, 20×20 cm or 8×8 inches).
A zentangle design done with my favorite set of pens – the Faber-Castell PITT Artist Manga Pens, Shades of Gray set. The variety of hues provides opportunities for achieving interesting effects and can also be used for shading instead of pencils. If you, like me, occasionally have a hard time choosing the right colors for a drawing, you can always pick a couple of grey pens.
