Painted jewelry box and Blue pendant
I made these as a birthday present for a friend of mine. The box is a veneer ready to paint on box that I found at a local arts and crafts store. The pendant I made from air-dry clay which is great because it doesn’t require oven baking and dries to a solid. Then I painted both the box and the the pendant with acrylic paints
and used a water-based acrylic varnish
as a finishing.
Blue and Pink Mandala
My first mandala on canvas. I went for blue and pink – plus white for some highlights, of course – and I’m happy with the result. I used acrylic paints on a stretched canvas (square, 20×20 cm or 8×8 inches).
How to paint a mandala on a misshapen stone
I love painting stones and especially making mandala stones. The thing is, where I live it’s very hard to find stones with even remotely circular shapes, so I have to make do with what I find. However, you don’t need a perfectly circular shaped stone in order to paint a mandala. You just need a stone big and flat enough so that you can draw a decent sized circle on. The stone in the picture above was a great find, but it still wasn’t the perfect shape for a mandala. So here is what I did…
Dot Painted Mandala Tin with Marigolds
Instead of throwing out this tin, I turned it into a lovely vase using acrylic paints. I had to apply several coats of paint for the background in order to cover all the pictures and labels. Just make sure the paint has dried completely before applying the next layer. (Acrylic paints do dry quickly, but it’s better to have some patience because with such smooth surfaces the paint could come off when you start applying the next layer.) If you use lighter colors – like the yellow I used around the mandala – the pictures and writing on the tin might still come through. Therefore I put the dot arcs and they covered it completely. On the back I just painted dots starting with white and finishing with dark green for a gradient effect. After the paint dried completely (I left it for a couple of days) I sprayed the vase with an acrylic finish spray.
Tangled box
A great idea to reuse plastic containers is to paint them with acrylic paints, then doodle on them with permanents markers. Here is a tangled cotton swab box in which I now keep hairpins and hair-clips.

Painted stones
A nice decorating idea – stones dot painted with acrylic paints. Instead of a brush I used a bamboo skewer
and painted the larger dots with the flat end and the small ones with the pointy end.
